It seems that the three will be with this unnamed newcomer for some time yet, as they ascend the towering staircase towards the penthouse, with an unconscious Alice in tow.

There are sounds from above, the same place they had heard gunshots fired earlier, and the group becomes wary of the possibility of an encounter with ANOTHER survivor.

Alice wakes for a moment, screaming in pain before dropping back into her unconscious state. The group is horrified, not only by the agony she expresses, but by the volume of her scream. It is obvious that it has alerted the undead as well as the stranger/gunshooter above them. Alex knows exactly who this man is, but sees no other option than to charge towards the hunter head-on.

This is the current situation.

Dutch was doing his job (the male stripping one, not the pizza delivery one, and no, in case you were wondering, he never does them at the same time) when the outbreak started. He was in the middle of a rather vanilla bachelorette party when a man in a suit, most likely the soon-to-be groom, burst into the room and attacked the women.

Dutch, being very anti-violence, tried to avoid this commotion and any bloodshed, but brandished the nearby cake knife as a warning to the fellow. It didn't do much of anything to ward him off, as he was biting a woman, so Dutch tried to lead the women out of the room, fleeing himself before the job was done.

Leaving the small hotel where he was working, he drives on his way home, so shaken by what he had witnessed that he didn't notice he was out of gas. He stalled in front of the lavish Hotel Delgata and his car was rammed by a rather bulbous (she was fat okay) woman, getting out to yell, he sees that she has the same crazed look as the man in the suit had had, and darts back through his car and into the hotel.

He hides in an elevator which is broken and smokes a blunt as he realizes he's pretty damned screwed.

During this plot point, taking place at location: CAMPUS, the three meet under dire circumstances: the outbreak has just occurred, and they have found themselves in a completely altered world.

Just hours after the madness has invaded their lives, Alice, the librarian's assistant at the College Campus must make her first kill: the librarian herself. Using an unlikely weapon she takes the plunge and continues hiding out in the library.

Meanwhile, Alex Mercer finds himself prowling about the campus, thinking of his past life and contemplating the virus itself, noting similarities and differences between itself and his own viral makeup.

Officer Christoff had just left her evidence closet hide-away to find much of the world dead. After venturing down the deserted highway, she too comes to be at the College Campus, and by coincidence the three end up in the same place, the bottom of the stairwell, at the moment that Alex collapses from fatigue caused from defending Lisa from he undead.

More creatures descend on the group and a handy broom handle becomes a weapon of mass destruction as Alice Caulder impales the undead. They drag their fallen defender to a secluded room and try to figure things out.

Alex regains consciousness, there are needles and a side-quest journey for tweezers, Lisa has a run-in with a trash can that leaves her near death, and the three have 'the talk'.

...no not that talk, the talk about what Alex really is.

After finding out what Alex Mercer is: classified terrorist, and non-human, Lisa goes outside for a breather. She is soon spotted by a zombie professor and runs away from the door so as to keep from blocking the group's only exit with a zombie onslaught.

When she is forced to fight back, she shoves the half-broom handle that Alice had given her through the man's torso, propping him up, still reaching for her.

She is being pursued by another zombie, and continues to run towards the highway (Location Change: HIGHWAY).

She locks herself in a car, and eventually finds a pair of handguns and some ammunition, taking on the waiting undead outside the car doors. She runs, finding an alleyway and hides there.

Alex and Alice go out in search of Lisa, finding pools of blood in their path. Hoping that their new acquaintance is still living, they carry on towards the highway.

Lisa comes across the grocery store run by Matron Maggie (NPC) and approaches the armed guards outside the door. It is obvious that there are survivors here, and the promise of a safe-house to wait out her injuries is the best Lisa can hope for (Location Change: GROCERY).

She is greeted by the Matron, offered a shower, a change of clothes, and hit on lightly by the woman. Soon to follow are Alice and Alex, met by a much different response from the guards.

A showdown seemed eminent, but luckily Lisa and the Matron heard the commotion, when Lisa recognized the two, Matron Maggie took them in as well.

There is a very suggestive bathtub scene where the girls try to remedy Alex's drop in body temperature.

In the morning they are given breakfast in the yard, where Alex is back to his normal self, doing acrobatics in the trees.

They need to move on, to keep from overstaying their welcome with the Matron, a good trade partner for the future, and make plans to head to the Hotel Delgata on the horizon.

There is a bit of gun training with Alex before setting out.

END LOCATION: HIGHWAY

The group travels down the highway to Hotel Delgata, deciding to forgo the service entrance plan and head straight for the front doors.

They encounter the hotel's welcoming committee bloodied and hungry in the hotel lobby, where shots are fired and blood is drawn, and Alice is drawn away from the group by the hoard. Alex takes Lisa and they take to a closet to recover and escape the zombies.

Meanwhile, Alice is hiding in a security room, where she sees other living humans on the black and white screens, two men carrying guns (Ivann and Michael). She is badly beaten, with broken fingers, and searches her body for any bites or scratches.

Lisa and Alex find her later, unconscious on the floor with Ivann standing over her, holding a gun. Lisa assumes that Ivann has killed her friend and points her own pistol at him on the defensive.

They take Alice away from possible harm from zombies and all four of them sit in a room, as Alex frets over what to do with Alice. Emotions run through his head, and it seems that he is growing very attached to her. Lisa and Ivann continue their stand-off as Lisa harbors a deep distrust of the man, but she cooperated with his plan to take Alice to the Penthouse, where he had begun this nightmare of outbreak, to hole up and let her come back to her senses in safety.

End Location: HOTEL
Story-line ends, merges with Ivann's to become It Started with a Sleeping Beauty.
